Funny Punjabi Poetry Biography

Anything by Christopher Moore. I recomend Lamb, or his vampire trilogy. I think the first one is called Bloodsucking Fiends.

It seems very obvious, but I'm going to say it anyway, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Assuming you've read that, and I find it likely, try Adams's other series Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.
Terry Pratchett is generally considered to be the fantasy equivalent of Adams. Start wherever you feel like, really, but if you'd truly like me to choose for you, my pick of the day is Soul Music; plenty of funny moments for you to sink your teeth into and get an idea of Pratchett's style.
If you still want a funny read, try Robert Rankin. The writing style of The Brightonomicon and its sequel Retromancer may take a bit of getting used to, but I think the humour will appeal to you.
All are lighthearted, fun, funny, and just a wee bit ridiculous, always a winning combination.

I've actually read both Adams' series, but I've never read Pratchett, and I don't think I've even heard of Rankin. Cool, thanks!

I came here to say Pratchett. If you read the nightwatch part of his books, I think it's better to go in order but not absolutely necessary. The rest of his diskworld books can be read in any order imo. Also Strata is one of, if not the only sci fi book he wrote and it is excellent as well.

The Princess Bride: I have never laughed harder at a book. Start from the prologue, read everything!

Have you ever read any Bill Bryson? He writes anecdotal nonfiction and I always get a kick out of his travel books (I'm a Stranger Here Myself and Neither Here Nor There especially).

So weird. I was going to recommend him too. I loved A Walk in the Woods. It's his midlife crisis attempt at the Appalachian Trail.

I especially liked In a Sunburned Country. I find that his European travelogues are much less snide than his American ones.

Haven't read that one yet, it's on my TBR list along with Mother Tongue!

Mother Tongue is my favorite Bryson book! I was a lit major in college, and since our English department was so small, I was friends with lots of linguistics majors. I must have loaned out my copy to at least ten people over the years... it now sits on my shelf, dog-eared and coffee-stained and very well loved. If you have any interest in linguistics at all, or even just want tidbits of trivia to toss around at parties, that book is gold!

I do think language and etymology is pretty interesting though I'm not extremely knowledgeable myself. Really looking forward to this one!

It's an amazing crash course in the history of the English language. My linguistics professors have all read it and were impressed!

Anything by David Sedaris. And if you like audio books, he narrates all of his books and they are amazing.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman fits your bill perfectly

I know it's nonfiction, but Bill Bryson is frickin' hysterical. In A Sunburnt Country, A Walk In The Woods, etc - all really, really fun reads. Another nonfiction writer who regularly sends me into fits of laughter is Mary Roach; she's brilliant. Try "Packing for Mars".
On the fiction side, I'm reading a new book called "Disenchanted" by Robert Krose and he seems really, really funny too - going to have to make my husband read his stuff. :)

Maybe not intentionally funny, but if you want to read a funny biography, Ozzy Osbourne's is pretty hilarious.

Roald Dahl's autobiography 'Boy' is hilarious, emotional and fascinating. I would definitely recommend it.

An Autobiography: Or, the Story of My Experiments with Truth - Mahatma Gandhi
Most wouldn't consider him to be "funny" but he has a wicked sense of humor, as is evident throughout this book.

Bruce Campbell's autobiography is pretty hilarious at times

If you're into postmodern lit and cleverness and humour, you'd likely get a kick out of Thomas Pynchon and Joseph Heller. If you haven't checked them out already, that is.

And check out Dave Barry (I think the collections of his columns are the best), Carl Hiaasen, Jasper Fforde, Gene Weingarten, David Lodge - and maybe Cold Comfort Farm, a great parody of a certain type of writing -

Augusten Burroughs always manages to get laughs out of me. I would recommend Possible Side Effects, but he has a few memoirs/short stories.

Anything by John Niven, i have rarely laughed out loud reading a book but all 3 of his had me in fits of laughter on nearly every page.

I'd recommend Mindy Kaling's memoir "Is Everyone Hanging out without me?". Hilarious!
For dark humor in fiction, try "The Sisters Brothers" by Patrick DeWitt - this is a Western style novel with a quirky pair of brothers who earn their keep as professional assassins.

for a bit of a twist on this, I would try 'The Lies of Locke Lamora'. It's definitely not a book made for the purpose of being humorous, but it's a great fantasy story with witty and amusing character interactions and some truly awe-inspiring insults. I found myself laughing multiple times while reading it.
